North Lake Tahoe Area Subvention
Overview
Like the rest of Placer County, the Tahoe area does not get funding sufficient to meet local needs. These needs are somewhat specialized and include safety, snow removal, and transit. Funded by a new local transportation funding source, an annual subvention could provide the North Lake Tahoe area funding for various
transportation needs such as safety improvements,
snow removal, and enhanced transit service.
Partners
PCTPA - As the Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA) for Placer County, the PCTPA Board determines and manages Placer’s priorities for the regional transportation system. The Agency has also been desingnated as the Transporation Sales Tax Authority for Placer County should such a tax be passed by voters in 2008.
Placer County - With part of its jurisdiction located within the Lake Tahoe Basin, Placer County not only prioritizes local transportation projects and needs within its own borders, it also works together with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to fund projects that cross or connect between jurisdictions in the Tahoe area.
Status/Schedule
A subvention for North Lake Tahoe transportation needs is contingent upon implementation of a new local transportation funding source in Placer County. Developer fees would also provide partial funding for the subvention.
