State Route 65 Widening
Overview
Plans for this project include widening SR 65 to six lanes from I-80 to Lincoln (Bypass).
Partners
PCTPA - As the Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA) and Transportation Authority for Placer County, the PCTPA Board determines priorities for regional transportation projects. Once funding is identified, PCTPA is responsible for making sure the project is on schedule and within budget.
Caltrans - Because this project is located on a State highway, Caltrans is required to provide oversight and make sure the improvements comply with state and federal standards.
Placer County and Cities of Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln - with a portion of the improvements located within their respective boundaries, these jurisdictions are part of the team overseeing project development.
Status/Schedule
The South Placer Regional Transportation Authority has idenified $50 million of existing funding to contribute toward this project. With a total project cost of $95 million, the addition funding needed to complete the project is estimated to be generated from futuer SPRTA fees (developer fees) in new growth areas of south Placer County. This project is estimated to go to construction by 2017.
Current Challenges
Future funding through SPRTA developer fees collected in new growth ares must be compiled before this project will go to construction.
