Interstate 80/State Route 65 Interchange Improvements
Overview
With the planned widening of both I-80 and SR 65, the interchange connecting these two highway will need to be improved to accommodate the increased traffic capacity. This project is estimated to cost approximately $110 million.
Partners
PCTPA - As the Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA) and Transportation Authority for Placer County, the PCTPA Board determines priorities for regional transportation projects. Once funding is identified, PCTPA is responsible for making sure project area on schedule and within budget.
Caltrans - Because the interchange is on an interstate route, Caltrans is required to provide oversight and make sure the improvements comply with state and federal standards.
Member Agencies - Placer County, the City of Auburn, the City of Colfax, the City of Lincoln, the City of Rocklin, the City of Roseville, and the Town of Loomis help determine transportation priorities. All jurisdictions that have improvements located within their area will be part of the team overvseeing project development.
Status/Schedule
No existing funding has currently been identifed for this project. While future developer fees may contribute toward constructing an initial phase of this project, total project completion is not anticipated prior to 2030. However, the total project can be completed much sooner if funding were to become available from additional developer fees and a dedicated local transportation funding source such as a transportation sales tax.
