Placer County’s Transportation Immediate “To Do” List Includes A Variety of Congestion Reduction Efforts:

  • I-80 Widening at Roseville "Bottleneck" - includes widening Interstate 80 from the Placer/Sacramento County line to Highway 65 by adding carpool and auxiliary lanes in both directions.

  • Lincoln Bypass on Highway 65 - will provide a new thoroughfare for Highway 65 through the Lincoln area by moving traffic around the City of Lincoln, linking back to the existing Highway 65 near Sheridan.

  • I-80/Sierra College Boulevard Interchange - The modernization of this interchange heighten the interchange, widen the overpass, and lengthen the junction to accommodate future widening of I-80.

  • Placer Parkway - an approximate 15-mile long, high-speed transportation facility, which will connect Highway 65 in western Placer County to SR 70/99 in south Sutter County.

  • Increased rail and transit options for commuters - includes Regional Rail service, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, and expanded transit services especially for senior and disabled populations.

  • Pedestrian and Bicycle improvements - expansion of Placer's pedestrian and bicycle facilities would not only help conjestion relief efforts but would also help to improve air quality and recreation in the region.

  • Interchange improvements on I-80 East of SR 65 - various locations are in need of capacity improvement including the Horseshoe Bar interchange (Loomis), the Rocklin Road interchange (Rocklin), and the I-80 / SR 174 interchange (Colfax).

  • I-80/SR 65 Interchange - Capacity and flow improvements are needed to accomodate this major interchange as both Interstate 80 and State Route 65 are planned for widening.

  • SR 65 Widening - current plans include widening State Route 65 to six lanes between Lincoln and I-80.

  • SR 49 Improvements - widening of State Route 49 to six lanes in some areas as well as improvements to the local connector road system including Willow Creek Road and Edgewood Drive.

  • Local Roads Subvention - annual funding would be provided to Placer jurisdictions to put toward their own local transporation priorities such as road maintenance, safety, traffic management, and other improvements.

  • Tahoe Subvention - Annual allocation to Lake Tahoe area jurisdictions within Placer County to put toward transportation needs such as safety improvements, snow removal, enhanced transit service.

  • Other Projects of Interest - includes improvements to the SR 65/Sunset Boulevard Interchange, widening of Auburn-Folsom Road, and improvements to Baseline Road.
